Kristian Willis is a composer, orchestrator and conductor for film and media based in London. Originally from Scunthorpe in the North of England, Kristian is currently studying Film Music in the Electronic and Produced Music Department at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Kristian's approach to music is always led by emotions, no matter the style. With a background in both orchestral music and jazz, having performed in venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall, his interest in writing for film and media is also inspired by the versatility and range of genres. He loves to blend the orchestra with other instruments and electronics to create new sounds and interesting, unique scores.
Kristian has studied with a number of professional film and TV composers, including Academy Award winning composer Rachel Portman (Emma, One Day), BAFTA nominated composer Mark Russell (Who Do You Think You Are?, The Worst Witch) and Grammy nominated composer Stephen Endelman (Rob The Mob, Unsinkable) and has been involved in a wide range of interesting projects recently. Most notably in March 2025, with the guidance and mentorship of the amazing Rachel Portman, Kristian has recorded his music with the world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra.
Kristian has collaborated as an orchestrator/arranger with artists including Becky Hill and Corinne Bailey Rae and regularly works with the Guildhall Session Orchestra for both recording his original scores and his orchestrations and arrangements for their concerts. These include his orchestral overture written for Corinne Bailey Rae's exclusive orchestral concert at the Roundhouse venue in April 2025 and his orchestration and arrangement of the headline track 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama's upcoming '50 Years of Bohemian Rhapsody' concert in the world-class Milton Court Concert Hall in November 2025.
Kristian has also worked as an additional composer and orchestrator for composer Stephen Endelman across multiple projects. This has allowed him to hone his skills and ability of working within a team and under pressure to successfully meet tight and changing deadlines on large studio productions.
